TAG Heuer Carrera Chronograph x fragment Limited Edition

TAG Heuer and fragment continue their collaboration with a new creation, the Carrera Chronograph x fragment Limited Edition.

The partnership with Japanese designer Hiroshi Fujiwara, the founder of the innovative label, started in 2018 presenting the Carrera Heuer 02 Fragment, a 500-piece limited edition.

The latest joint project developed around the Carrera Chronograph Glassbox, a design introduced in 2023 that received great feedback (you can read our hands-on review here).

The new model offers a striking black-and-white contrast, a signature reinterpretation of Hiroshi Fujiwara’s design vision through the glassbox construction. His signature design codes, including the fragment lightning bolt, are subtly integrated into the dial, lending a distinctive personality to the timepiece.

Crafted in stainless steel with alternating satin-brushed and polished finishes, the 39 mm x 13.9 mm case is water resistant to 100 metres / 330 feet.

Protected by a domed sapphire glassbox crystal with double anti-reflective treatment and framed by a white curved flange displaying a tachymeter scale, the black opalin dial absorbs light softly, creating a smooth texture.

All markings across the dial, subdials and flange are finished in silver to maintain cohesion. The tachymeter scale has been tuned as well, using a lighter grey on the bezel.

The dial has a tri-compax layout, with a minute chronograph counter at 3 o’clock, a running seconds indicator at 6 o’clock and an hour chronograph counter at 9 o’clock.

The facetted polished hour and minute hands are rhodium-plated and filled with white Super-LumiNova, while the central hand is rhodium-plated, polished and lacquered.

A white TAG Heuer printed logo and a date at 12 o’clock complete the dial.

The bracelet follows TAG Heuer’s seven row beads of rice design, reintroduced earlier this year. For this edition, it is reworked with black PVD on the central links to echo the watch’s contrasted look.

This timepiece is powered by the in-house TH20-00 movement, beating at a frequency of 4 Hz and offering an 80-hour power reserve. The movement uses a column wheel and vertical clutch for smooth chronograph action, and a bi-directional automatic winding system for efficient energy delivery.

The movement is also personalised by fragment. The oscillating weight is shaped like a shield and detailed with black graphics, reinterpreting the TAG Heuer emblem in Fujiwara’s visual language. The fragment logo is also printed on the sapphire crystal.

Around the caseback edge, the engraved Victory Wreath recalls the golden age of Formula 1. It takes inspiration from Jack Heuer’s tradition of gifting gold watches as lucky charms to talented, victorious drivers, a gesture that turned the Victory Wreath into a symbol of success.

The TAG Heuer Carrera Chronograph x fragment Limited Edition, ref. CBS221B.BA0045, will be produced in 500 individually numbered units with a suggested retail price of CHF 8,150.
